Lost temp gauge - help

Was driving from Ashland Oregon to Lassen National Park. Somewhere on Ca89, temp went to 100. Everything else seems OK. No leaks. Any thoughts on what I should do next. It's many miles to a service center. Appreciate any help you guys can give.

When was the last time you washed out your radiator cooling fins?

When I bought my coach, which was 9 years old at the time, I washed my radiator fins out and all kinds of dirt, tooth pick size twigs, etc., came out.

Perhaps a little more information would help.

What temperature are you talking about? engine, transmission, outside, refrigerator, etc

Make, model, year, gas, diesel, what chassis?

I can't think of anything where 100 degrees come into play.

More info:
2005 Monaco Cayman
ISB diesel
Engine temp
Was working then quit while we were driving. Went from its normal 180 operating temp to 100 ( minimum reading on gauge). No signs of leakage. No steam, nothing to indicate engine was overheating. I suspect one of two, the temp sending unit failed or its connection broke or that the cooling fluid level is below the sending unit.

I am hoping someone in this forum can help me sort it out. Thanks in advance.

Last month I lost my Volt Meter while leaving West Yellowstone. My Aladdin told me I was still getting 13.8 volts so I continued until I could pull over and check the batteries with my volt meter. Everything checked out ok so we continued on to Newport Oregon and while spending 2 weeks at Pacific Shores, I pulled the dash out and discovered that the connection on the back of the meter was not making good contact. Retightened the connection and all is well now. On my Beaver, I consider the dash gauges to be for entertainment only and I rely on my Aladdin for accurate readings.
