Low air "chime" is missing

Earlier this year I had some trouble with the Nason switch at the parking brake pull/push switch. This prevented the jacks from working as they should and the "low air" light on the dash didn't light up.

This was all taken care of thanks to helpful irv2 members advice

What is still not working is the low air "chime" that I should be hearing when I release enough air from the brake tanks - that has gone completely.

Air gauges goes down in both tanks as they should when I release the air. Which device is it that gives of that chime? Is it some special "box"? Could it be a blown fuse (have been looking in the fuse box in the compartment under the drivers seat and nothing seems to match)?

Hello - I had the same issue 4 or 5 years ago and it turned out to be the alarm unit itself. The alarm is made by Enertech and is apparently not longer made. So, with nothing to loose - I took it apart by carefully cutting off the top speaker cover (grill). What I found was the speaker was open circuit. Replaced it and worked ever since.

Thanks Alan.

Could you tell me what it looks like (size, colour etc.). It sounds (as I remember) like it is hidden in the dash right behind the steering column. Is this where you found yours?

Looks like the photo didn't come trough ???

The alarm unit is black and has a speaker grill on top. It is about 3 by 3 inches and about 2 inches tall. Mine was located directly in front of the driver up under the dash and was screwed down.

Sorry - it didn't go through. If you can't see it in the post you are making, it will most likely not show.

Here is the text from the FAQ pages:

How do I add an image to a post?
If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.
To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too.

Hope it works

Henrik,
Mine has one annunciator that that chimes when anything is amiss. I think yours might also, as opposed to having a separate one for the low air. My pressure switches on the air tanks report in to the annunciator.

Maybe you could PM DutchstarDon and ask if he knows how his Diplomat was set up.

Dont know about you Henrik, but I could live without mine!
I'm Canadian, so I had to take a air-brake course to legally drive my coach. I glance at my air tank guages every time I look at my speedometer. I could live easily without the chime. I'm not endorsing, or recomending this for most drivers.
