Magnetic step switch Question,

Hello everyone,
I'm working on my 2004 Beaver Monterrey.
I have not been able to get any information on the operation of the steps switches from reading the manual.
My problem is, the steps will not move in or out. I did find out from reading that if you put a magnet to the door frame switch (not the door) the door will close. I have, and it does close.
What I'm not sure of is what that tells me. The door itself when closed will not activate the switch. So does the door switch need replacing or the door frame switch need replacement? Another question is, is the switch electrically activated or is it just an opposing magnet?
Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks!!
Steve!!!

If you can retract the step using a magnet on the door frame then one of the following is probably your problem:
1) The magnet in the door is missing. See if it will attract a piece of steel.
2) The door is out of alignment. See if the magnet in the door aligns with the switch in the frame and the space between is not larger.
3) The magnet in the door has gotten weak. It will need to be replaced.
4) The switch in the door frame is defective. It is requiring a strong magnetic force to make it work.
Hope this helps. I wish you luck.

Thanks!!

Thanks for your reply,
Your 4 things to check are appreciated.
I removed the magnet on the door and matched it up with the door frame magnet, with no response. So alignment or missing magnet are out.
The magnet off the door feels weak so that is a possibility. The steps did operate with another magnet, so the switch on the door frame may still be good or also weak. I found a company called "DC, Del City" and ordered part number 905307000, cost of $34.15 for both door frame switch and door switch.
Hope that will do it,
Thanks Again

Hello, Just wanted to make an comment about my last entry.
I referenced a company by the name of DEL City. I purchased an item from them and thought I would pass that information. May not have been a good idea.
