Magnum Opus toilet
Anyone have a problem with their electronic Magnum Opus toilet blowing fuses? After we brought the motorhome home from Freightliner after unrelated repairs it wasn't working....found no power to toilet and blown fuse. Replaced the fuse two times and they both blew immediately. Any suggestions? Also has anyone replaced the electronic toilet with a manual one? We have a 2006 Monaco Signature.

If the fuse blows before you try to flush, try unplugging the two pin power connector from the control board and then replace the fuse.
If it still blows, then there is an issue with wiring outside the toilet.
If it only blows when the control board is plugged in, then there is a fault on the board, the wiring from the board to the mechanism, or the mechanism.

Lots of people have replaced their electronic Sealand-Dometic/Magnum Opus with a manual toilet - when the circuit board fails since the electronics are no longer available. However that may be changing in the near future.

Thank you for the quick responses. We are headed out of town and will try the suggestions when we return in about 10 days. And no, we are NOT in the motorhome!

On the side of my Magnum Opus toilet there is a fitting (screw, or something like it) that can be used to open the flush ball to empty it. A friends M O toilet stopped working and they used that fitting to flush while parts were on order. It works and is better than running to the outhouse at night.......
Good luck
Dave

I replaced my Sealand-Dometic/Magnum Opus with a normal gravity RV toilet. I am a believer in KISS. The replacement toilet was less (cost) then pretty well any part (if you can find) that would repair the Opus.

We have a Sealand Magnum Opus 3000 toilet and it has been great. Actually, its been the best RV toilet we've owed.
We previously had an expensive Thetford Techma macerating toilet and it was sometimes troublesome. Before that we had a Thetford foot pedal toilet and it was also troublesome. The seals on it only lasted about 12 months.
If you end up needing a new control board we have a smart and very tenacious IRV2 member that has reverse engineered the Sealand control board and improved it greatly.

What toilet did you use to replace the Magnum Opus?

Northwest RV Supply now has replacement circuit control boards for the Magnum Opus 3000 series toilets. These new ones come encased and carry a 1 year warranty.
