Mail Forwarding Services

We will start full-timing this October spending about 6-7 months in FL and then traveling around the East Coast for the remaining time. In FL we will be around the Summerfield/Villages area. Our experience with mail forwarding services comes from reading about them. What exactly do they do for you? I'd assume you would have to have a P.O. box or something for them to get your mail to you? How does that work when you're traveling? I know I could get their standard answer by calling one of them but thought I'd first go to persons who have or are using one. Are recommended MFS in FL? Thanks as always.

We use this service which happens to be in Florida:

https://www.myrvmail.com/

We have changed our address to their address for everything that we get snail mail from. They accumulate mail in your mailbox until you contact them and tell them to forward. Most campgrounds will allow you to receive a packet of mail at their address. In the case of the above service we do it by Internet web site. I've only called them a couple of times in the years we have used the service. If you are going to be at a location for an extended period, you can stet up an automatic schedule.

If you're fulltiming your Mail forwarding service becomes your "permanent" address for everything from taxes to car/RV registration to banking to voting...and of course all your "snail mail" goes there.

As for getting your mail you usually contact the service and ask to forward to wherever you are. Most private campgrounds will accept mail, but otherwise you can do General Delivery to a Post Office and just go pick it up (that's actually what we do most of the time since we rarely camp in private campgrounds -> you just need to call ahead and make sure the PO you're planning on using actually accepts general delivery).

Some of the better services offer a scanning service. So you can get all your mail scanned and just log in to have a look.

My address is at my kids house. Mail is screened. Only need it sent to me about once every 3 months, insurance cards, etc. We do all banking with credit union (no fees, bill pay, non-profit). Bill amount and account are texted to me and done with iPhone and bill-pay. W2s will be sent out and taxes done online.

Boom!

We have used Escapees mail service for several years. Have set up most of our bills, etc. for delivery on-line, thus eliminating a lot of the snail mail.

For the snail mail, we have changed all the mailing addesses to the mail service. They hold the mail until we request that it be sent to us wherever we are located at that time. You can call them, but we use to Internet to manage deliveries.

Works great for us. Highly recommend Escapees.

We have used St Brendan's Isle in Green Cove Springs FL since 2007 and are very satisfied. You can use their address as your domicile address in Florida. They offer a scanning service for your mail so you can view it on line. On many occasions we have had them check for a specific piece of mail before we ask to have our mail forwarded.

We use American Home Base in Pensacola, FL. They have done well for us. Only one mix up but since both the names happened to be the same I really don't blame them for the one mix up. If it happened again I might get upset but nothing else in the last 5 months since that happened.
Not the first time that someone mixed up my Thom Allen with another Tom Allen. He got a call while in San Jose on a job from a CVS letting him know that his prescription was ready ... turns out that yes it was a different Tom with a SS that was also close to his. While living in FL one time I started getting phone calls from friends asking if everything was ok, turns out someone with the same name had been walking on a busy road and been in a hit and run and died. Some lawyer called Tom up threatening to take him to court because he was at a certain place and what not. Tom politely told him he better double check because he had the wrong Tom Allen.
