Entrance Door
Use the following guidelines to maintain and service the entry door:
STEP ONE: Check to determine if both top and bottom strike bolts move up and down freely. The strike bolts should feel like they float up and down, not bind. Perform this inspection with the entry door open.
STEP TWO: Leaving the entry door open, manually fasten the top and bottom latch. Open the inside and outside release handles, one at a time. Both handles are designed to open at the same time by linkage inside the door. Approximately half of the pull distance should remain on the inside release handles after the latches have tripped open.
STEP THREE: If upper and lower door latches do not open at the same time, timing adjustment will be required, as outlined in Step Four.
STEP FOUR: With the entry door in the open position, remove the striker cap from the latch side of the door. Remove all the Phillips head screws. Take out the inside window ring and the deadbolt cover. Be cautious that the window is not pushed outwards. At this point there will be enough flex on the inside décor door liner to reach each location needed for adjustment.
STEP FIVE: Located at the end of each latch rod are one _ inch self-locking nuts. Adjust the nuts to regulate the timing that will allow both latch releases at the same time.
STEP SIX: Inside release adjustment is the same as outside adjustment.
STEP SEVEN: Confirm that the top door arm is resting in the proper position.
Lube the entry door with white lithium spray lube every six months. Remove the access panel around the inside handle assembly, and then remove the small access panel. This will allow entry to the latch assembly in order to spray lube all moving parts.
The two floating strikers should also be sprayed back towards the pivot point. The top door open support should be lubed at the pivot points. Use silicone spray on the seals every three months to reduce noise of door movement while the coach is operating.
Sealant around the top portion at the entry door window should be inspected every six months. If the screen door requires tightening to reducing rattling, the screen door can be adjusted in the hinge area. Mounted on the screen door is a magnetic switch. This switch engages to close the entry step when the screen door is closed.
