I live in central Fl. Where is this Coach? Maybe I can swing by and take a quick look for you - if you're not as close to it. I'm on the east side of Orlando near UCF.

I know this sounds dumb but how can you pm someone on this forum? If all goes as planned I will see it tomorrow then if possible post pictures and Im sure a bunch of questions. This will be a first look and if it looks promising A more detailed inspection will follow and your offer to look at it would be most welcome, Id meet you there. Its on the west side of orlando Thanks

Marquis vs Patriot
This may be another of my dumb questions but here it goes... I know that chassis and engines can be older than the model year of the completed coach IE a 97 production engine in a 98 coach. What are the odds of a 1998 marquis having a Gillig chassis vs the magnum and how can I tell one from the other? I guess I may as well ask are there plusses and minuses between them?

All the Marquis (from 1984 to 2005) were built on a Gillig chassis. Technically speaking
First Beaver purchased the Gillig chassis for the Marquis (1984 - 1994),
then in 1994 Safari Motorcoach Corporation (SMC) acquired the rights to manufacture the Gillig chassis, when Gillig left the motorcoach chassis business, and SMC continued to build the Gillig chassis for the Marquis but was now being built in SMC Magnum facility only renaming it the Magnum D-series "Blue Diamond". That chassis was used up to 2005 (in 2006 the Marquis was switched to the Monaco Roadmaster S-series chassis.
The "purchased" Gillig chassis never came with a Tag Axle, all the Magnum D-series (still a Gillig design) chassis had a Tag Axle for the Marquis line after 2000. Basically the Magnum D-series is the same frame (size, steel type, dimensions, reinforcement, etc. as the original Gillig) but now had the added benefit of a Tag.

marquis vs patriot follow up
After bugging all of you with my search for a motorhome i thought it appropriate to bring things up to date. I looked at one marquis 1999 and it showed signs of sitting for prolonged period of time the woodwork was almost white instead of cherry and it smelled musty. The light fixtures were corroded and needed replacement. But over all i was going to try and negotiate with the seller. Unfortunately he sold it out from under me while i was there. I now want to see the 2nd unit but because of distance i havent had the opportunity . to go see it yet. In general i like the layout and style.

Had a 36’ Country Coach with a C7 engine, it definitely was underpowered for my tastes. I would recommend you have an oil analysis done on any diesel you intend to buy, research rebuild costs and you will see why. You do get a lot of bang for the buck with the older dp’s assuming they have been properly maintained.
