Maxx Air vent fan question

Today I installed a new MaxxAir vent. It's got all the bells and whistles, automatic, remote control, rain sensor, etc.

I am trying to decide if I want to put a cover over the vent lid. My question is, what happens when the vent lid hits the top of the cover? The way I understand the cover is: It is not high enough to allow the vent lid to fully open.

So when it automatically opens, does it just hit the top of the cover and resistance will stop the lid from opening further or what?

Yes lid will stop, all three of mine hit slightly at top. It will help to position the Matthew highest part of housing.

It's been a few years since I upgraded my vents, but IIRC the instructions suggested not using a cover over the vent as the cover could block rain getting to the sensor.

As usual, I ignored the instructions and did it anyways. Vents will usually close during 'heavier' rain but not a light shower.

YMMV
