Michelin Tire Company!!

Hello to everyone!! We are so extremely happy with what michelin did for us we have just got to let all know, they went above and beyond .
First off we had a need of two new front tires as had a problem with one of our dual tires so thought we would remove the bad tire so is why we placed two new ones on the front.A reputable tire company in the state of Washington, said no problem they would help us out so we went there,saw they were busy with big trucks and other motorhomes so waited our turn.Our turn came and they pulled us up said our tires would be on in good time and we would be on our way shortly.
Larry asked if the tires they chose were the right size as he was unfamiliar with Michelin tires ,they told him yes so they put them on and we were on our way.From then on Larry questioned the tires , Later he kept checking and could never find the numbers he was looking for ,so while at the big tent in Quartzsite asked Pete's tire company they finally told him NO they were wrong.That night we came home called the Michelin customer care line and were told the same thing,also politely suggested do not move your motorhome too far until you get the right tires put on.
Well today we have the right tires on THANKS TO MICHELIN they saw such a danger in the ones that we had they replaced them with the correct size ,balanced etc.and no extra cost to us !! As Jim the general Manger said we are so happy we can still talk to you they will do whatever it takes to make it right!This came right from Michelin ,he sad he
was politely telling both of us we could have been killed plus whatever any other damage it could have caused ,so thank you again so much Michelin you truly have gone above and beyond !!

Michelin , has a reputation to protect, and in your case they have worked hard to do just that.
Can you give us the details of the problems with the tires that were removed.
Undersize ? Under rated for load ? Oldstock ?
So others reading this post can be aware.
Although , Michelin , being the company they are, I doubt that the Washington State company you delt with will be installing their tires again any time soon.

That's one reason i chose michelin tires last summer over other cheaper brands. Usually, you get what u pay for. Glad it worked out well for you and you did not have an accident.

You would be doing a service to the motorhome community by reporting the name of the Washington state tire company and the size of the tire they installed.

It would help others if you shared at least the details of what made the situation so unsafe so that folks will know what to be on the lookout for when purchasing new shoes.

Sure is a shame Michelin didn't respond like that a few years back when many RVers had problems with their XRV tires that were blowing out. The sidewalls were to thin. Michelin refused warranty on all those as far as I know, and I have avoided their product since that time. Glad to see they are now doing the right thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the OP in this case got a good outcome and Michelin acted to make him whole. I suspect it has more to do with negligence and corporate liability than a desire to do good works. They had a dealer, who had received Michelin training and that Michelin entrusted to make appropriate decisions regarding tire loading and correct sizing and that dealer exposed Michelin to liability by acting irresponsibly.

There is a good chance that someone at that tire dealer has joined the ranks of the unemployed.

I would still love to know what size tires the dealer put on. I'm sure that front GAWR was at least 14,600 lbs and the tires should have been at least 295/80R22.5.

Sorry to all but should have made clear the tires we had on were apparently rated a truck tire which were a xze 2 11R 22.5 load range H so was incorrect for axel weight, wrong for our rim size, and, with too much air pressure, as had to run at max. of 120 psi ,which we believe would have been a horrendous explosion if they had blown!
Michelins major concern was a safety issue for not only us but the damaged that could have been caused.

A Michelin 11R 22.5 will carry a max load of 6610 pounds at 120 psi which gives you 13,220 pounds on the steer axle. Your steer axle is rated to carry 14,600 pounds which means that at max inflation the 11R22.5 tires would not carry the weight the axle is designed to carry. The tires that came on that coach and I'm sure you have now are 295/80R22.5 which will carry 7830 pounds at max inflation of 120 psi which is above your GAWR.

Interesting story. Glad all worked out. Wonder why the tire guy disn't look at the factory decal inside the motorhome that is normally on the wall next to the drivers seat to get the correct tire or didn't look at the size and load handling of the tires that were already on the motorhome?

It isn't clear to me where the mistake came in- didn't the first guys replace the fronts with the same size as the ones they took off???

I presume those are still on the back of your rig since unless I misread it you said in your opening post that you rotated the fronts to the back due to some "problem with your duals" -
