Mirror

I went to the storage facility to retrieve some items from my coach and noticed my drivers side mirror hanging by wires. It looks like the adhesive that holds the mirror to the adjustment plate let go in the heat. I wondered if anyone else has had this happen and what you recommend to glue it back. I thought about 2-sided 3M tape but wondered if hat would hold up.

I appreciate your advice.

You are talking about the glass and not the mirror frame I am guessing. I know of no frame that is held on by 3m type tape. If yours was repaired using tape, I don't think it was done correctly.

Is your mirror a Velvac? If so, google Velvac and take a look at how it is assembled. It can be fairly complicated but there is a way to repair it.

Thanks Barlow .... Yes it is just the glass and it does look simple to repair I was just wondering what the best adhesive to use.

That's what I would use. I had the mirror glass fall off a car once -- put it back on with grey automotive 3m tape and it held for many years.

Reinstalled mine 5 years ago using 3M automotive tape. It has bee stored outside in AZ and Bakersfield heat no problems.

Check with an automotive glass shop.. they can do the job for you or they may even be able to sell you a bit of glue.. Frankly. I do not know what they use.

I did use the 3M tape and so far it has held up nicely. We have had several days of 100 degree temps and no problems.
