I replaced our pump with a Viair C350, and moved the pump inside a bay compartment, much better keeping it out of the weather and dirt. It comes with a check valve right at the pump where it should be, then I wired in a 90/120 switch which is teed off the line out of the pump. I, like others, wired in an on/off switch by the driver's seat to be able to turn it off manually. With the Valid system the pump is always "on".

Since your plumbing in a new compressor from scratch, this would probably be the way to go.

It does make sense to have the pressure switch after the check valve. Thinking the compressor must leak down in time, causing the pressure switch to cycle.

I see Viair pumps have great reviews and have double the power of the Thomas, but most people say they are noisy for this application. Is yours louder than the one you replaced?

Mine was plumbed the wrong way initially, causing the pump to burp (kick on for a short moment or two and then stop) occasionally. After replacing the check valve, re-seating all of the related joints, adding a switch to shut it off when not needed, etc, someone on here described the real problem.
Switched things around and now it behaves like it should.

Yep,
Mine was also plumbed wrong. I know CaptJake had a Beaver, his was wrong and 10Boomer's camelot was plumbed wrong. I'm sure they are many others.
Not sure why monaco did it wrong for multiple years. Several people got fed up with the pump short cycling and just unplugged it (or just removed it completely like 2Yoopers previous owner, if that is the reason for it missing ) until they realized there's an easy fix.

I had already replaced the original pump with a Firestone 9285, the Viair is quieter and much more powerful than the Firestone. I can hear it if I am close to the pump, but it only runs for a max of 30 seconds. And remember mine is inside a bay.
