Bill2 Or BillO I never saw a drain valve that wasnt on the bottom of the tank! I think the ones you mention are air Taps, not ment as drains! Water lays in the bottom of a tank. I hear you said nice thing about me on Monacoers? Thanks Pal Allegro5

There are no drains on the bottom of the tanks on the later model Monaco, or Horiday Rambler products. They are in the generator bay and on the back by the hitch. Just for anyone's information on this subject.

I make it a point to use a thumper to check the tire pressure every time I stop. I made that from a 24" long wooden bat like item that I screwed a small hook in the end. With this I hook the cable that is attached to the drain valve and drain the tank at least once a day. Seldom will I find water. Now and then there may be a bit. It is not a big deal as long as it is a regular routine. On my MH the cable is easy to see as they come through a hole in the frame just behind each front wheel.

When you are draining your air tanks are you draining all the air from the tank?? If not you will not be getting all the moisture drained out. The air rushing out the drain hole actually pushes the water and sludge away from the drain hole so when the pressure is almost gone is when the water actually gets drained.

Well, I'm learning that in our climate in Canada, that even with a properly working air dryer, in certain temperatures, moisture does accumulate in the lines and the tanks, condensation caused by the fact that when the air compressor compresses the air, it warms it up and feeds it into cold lines and tanks.
I've had trouble in cold weather with the front air bag system not working, and the brake system not working due to condensation in the system, even though the air dryer system is brand new and working properly.
I have less trouble if I make sure to drain all the air out of the system EVERY time I shut down the coach. Truckers up here use a system that feeds air line antifreeze into the air system. I'm checking on that, I think there's some kind of system that I can put into my air system to feed the air line antifreeze into the system.

Good ol frozen north eh Jim. I used to drive semi's for a living before the time of air dryers and we drained our tanks every day but I just learned about the draining the air totally from the tanks to allow the moisture out. I learned this at an air brake endorsement course that I had to take in order to drive my Class A with air brakes.
I have heard of the anti-freeze injection sytem as well as alcohol injection.
