Monaco ad in Motorhome Mag

Has any one seen??? I had to chuckle....

It stars off with, " we'll start by rededicating ourselves to ever rv customer and dealer."

On and on and then....

"We'll stand behind every rivet and bolt."

I believe that Monaco RV LLC will honor their new vehicle warranty would they not?

Hope this doesn't turn into an M bash. I think that M owners kinda fall into several groups. Long time multi coach owners who missed the bankruptcy fiasco. Safari/Beaver owners who were welcomed in. The folks who bought in the transition with no warranty. The folks buying from the new LLC.

All groups have their opinions and feelings based on how they were treated. Hopefully the new/old guys will do well enough that we have a choice in the future. They will have a hard time after stiffing dealers and owners. The days of the great rallys and sales may be history, but as a satisfied current owner who tries to never go back to a dealer, I hope that they do well. Tech support seems to still be pretty good so I hope we can continue to keep these magnificent beasts rolling across America.

Ed,

Since you do not have a dog in this show (no Monaco RV) my mother would say you are just trying to stir the pot. Please stop stirring the pot because we need to get past the past and look to the future.

Bob,
I do have a dog in this show, and if Ed wants to voice his opinion then let him....I don't get the feeling h's trying to stir any pot... I for one, found the ads funny to say the least.

I must admit, I'm flummoxed also. I have no idea why this ad is drawing chuckles and laughter. What are the dogs and what is the fight?

At least someone could post the ad so we could all take a look.

It's a three page fold-out ad on the inside back cover. It's a bit much to try to post an image of it.

When you first open the back cover, there is a line drawing of a road disappearing around a corner behind a hill. There are numbers in the various outlines, giving the impression of a paint-by-numbers project that hasn't been started yet. Across the top it says "Where to next?"

Unfold the cover, and there is a two page spread of the same scene, with the road and some of the scenery painted in, but a third of it is still not done. There is text that seems to follow the road, starting with lines of smaller text at the top (in the distance) and progressing to larger text as you get to the bottom. The text reads:

Quote:
We roam from vista to vista.
We fill in our dreams along the way.
We look to the open road for inspiration and delight.
We are driven by the same curiosity that drives out customers...
where to next?
We'll start by rededicating ourselves to every RV customer and dealer.
We'll blaze new trails with Navistar(r) firmly behind us.
We'll embrace 175 years of transportation expertise.
We'll apply the no-hassle emission technology of MaxxForce(r) Advanced EGR.
We'll pioneer aerodynamic testing to improve fuel efficiency.
We'll set new standards in engineering and creature comforts.
We'll stand behind every rivet and bolt.
We'll never stop looking for what tomorrow could bring.

I only very recently bought a 2008 Beaver Contessa Westport 42. I guess I didn't know I needed to worry. I've been boating for a while and have seen boat manufactures go away in thie economy. Many, if not most, had a great product. The best product doesn't guarantee success in a poor economy, sizing your company to weather the storm usually does. Like boats, it appears as though most of the major systems come from companies that aren't associated with the RV manufacturer, so support shouldn't be a big deal. Especially after the warranty has passed, very little support is needed from the manufacturer.

I'm hopeful that Monaco will continue to support their old products, too include the Beaver line. I can say it was comforting the other day to receive a box from Monaco with a new replacement roof ladder and extension for my Beaver!

I'm not worried...should I be?

Hum, seems like a reasonable ad to me. No point in Navistar bemoning the past when they need to look to the future. That sounds like what they are trying to say in the ad. New company/partnership, new roads, new directions, new dealers, new customers. Ads are meant to say those kinds of things. The proof's in the puddin'.

Sorry didn't mean to stir any pot, bucket or any ones feelings. I had a Monaco product until early this year...and they forgot to put some bolts in...there for a chuckle from me. Maybe I should have kept my chuckle to myself since it seems to have offended some people. Sorry for that and further more I am not bashing this company. Would I buy another??? Never say never.

I feel very comfortable with Navistar products, including their motorhomes.

That's an interesting statement. How do you become comfortable with a product you have never seen and has no history?

Ed S, I think the new Monaco LLC marketing is looking for new customers and trying to say the things they think new customers what to here. The old customer base may be all but gone and they know that. The new Monaco LLC is just a small shadow of the old Monaco.
