Monaco Basement LED Lighting upgrade
Hi Folks,
In December 2022 I purchased a 2001 Monoco Dynasty with 71K miles and seems to be in very good condition. I have went through and serviced everything on the RV including the generator e.g. oils, fluids, filters, and chassis greasing. During all of this I repaired to two know discrepancies I found during my inspection prior to purchasing the RV. The steering had some free play about 10 - 20 degrees and the super slide and generator would not extend or retract. Since then I had the steering gear rebuilt be Red Head which seem to solve the steering play and replaced the electric motor that drives the hydraulic for the super slide and generator. Everything seems to be running very good but now I plan to upgrade the lighting in the cargo basements, Aqua-Hot bay, Water/Sewer Bay, and generator access bay. It came with factory filament bulb lighting which was sufficient at the time but LED lighting really makes a difference. Currently the lights are controlled by a switch located in the boarding stepwell but, I plan to upgrade by installing proximity switches on the cargo bay doors (see attached pics). I wlll use the existing wires that power the original lights so this should be a simple upgrade but one that will be well worth the time, effort and cost. i ordered them off Amazon.com and they arrived in a few days. The lights were $12.95 each and I purchased 20 of them. The proximity sensors were $18.99 for 5 and bought one for each access door, the engine access door and generator access door. I will update once I'm done.

I am hoping to also upgrade the basement lighting in my '07 Holiday Rambler Navigator. It has the old style lights but I want the new LED lights and i'd like them to go on and off when the door is opened/closed. I don't know if you follow AZ Expert's youtube channel but he is great. He just provided an episode about this very topic regarding his 2001 Beaver PT. In case you haven't seen it, I've included the link below. He's very thorough and it's worth watching. Good luck!

Very nice upgrade.
I wish they offered the lights in a 4k color. The 6k stuff is almost blinding at night.

The switches have both options depending on how you want the switch to operate.

Here are 2 videos by AZ Expert on this idea
I used the lights he recommended to replace the florescent bulbs in my lights fixtures.

I've already swapped out my original incandescent storage compartment lighting but I like the ones shown by Pufahl. I'll get a set of them and center them at the top of each compartment opening instead of on the side like the originals. I'm going to use proximity switches to turn on the lights when I open the doors. They're motion sensitive and adjustable for 1 to 10 minutes on time. If I'm working in the compartment longer than that, my motion will keep the activated.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XHWD3CJ/ Only $4 apiece in lots of 6.
Same lights, $10 cheaper:

4 for $19
