Question Monaco Coach RV Hierarchy - Questions from newbie

I really don't know why this is so important to me, but...I have a Monaco Cayman XL. Can anyone tell me where this coach falls within the Monaco brand hierarchy? I've tried to research it, I can see on the website its stills be made, but inquiring minds want to know if the Cayman is on the 'low-end' or 'higher-end' of their coaches. We are very happy with our unit and not interested in trading and it does seems to have some great amenities. We did not buy new. I do know the original invoice states it was fitted with a washer/dryer. Alas, it wasn't in it when we got it. That leads me to believe the unit was 'plumbed' for a w/d and I didn't understand why dealer was so reluctant to put one in. I also wish I could get a 'car fax' on the unit. I'd love to know its history: where did it come from, who had it, did it sit around, were the chassis trailer arms (? -- Rr4R) replaced during recall (were they replaced by Monaco -- are they gonna last) or this an expense I'm facing in he near future, etc. I know about the tires and some of the maintenance work that's been done, and I know what we've had done. I believe I made an informed choice before buying, but as I read more & more the more questions I have.

Sorry this is so long but as I said, inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for any input.

Hierarchy changes from year to year as manufacturers ad/delete or upgrade models. Probably the closest you can come to figuring this out would be to go to the NADA web site and search on your year of coach then compare base price for all the different models. Not an absolute but it will get you in the ballpark.

Unless you have a tag axle, don't believe you have trailing arms to worry about

Not true Ernie.........the R4R chassis has a problem that Source Engineering can fix, or supply the replacement "trailing" arms. deSanford

Unfortunately car faxes do not exist for motorhomes and you must rely on the previous owners records if you can get them. As to the wash/dryer combo, it may never have had one and was only wash/dryer ready. If it did have one the previous owner my have had it taken out for some reason. It is not difficult to install one if you desire. My son-n-law helped me put ours in. To heavy for one old man to lug in and put in place. On a cool morning when condensation forms on the side of the motorhome you can tell where the framing is inside the walls. Mark the spot where you want to install the vent with masking tape. Drill a pilot home from the outside to make sure you have a good location. Using a large hole saw (make sure you check the vent for the correct size hole saw) cut through from the outside just enough to remove the outside skin. Look in the hole to make sure electrical wires are not in the way. If you see any move them out of the way. Now go inside with the hole saw and remove the inside portion of the wall.

As to the trailing arms, get someone who knows what they are looking at to check if yours have been replaced with the beefed up ones. If you call the guys at Source Engineering they may be able to walk you through it. They are nice people and helpful.

Good luck,

Bob

If you search the forum there have been several posts on the trailing arms. A few of the posts contain pictures of the original vs. the new beefed up arm.

Just under the Dynasty. Over time the Camelot was moved into that slot although it never had the following of the Windsor.

Joe,

Steve has it correct. I think up until the last couple of model years the Windsor had the same basic chassis as the Dynasty less the tag. So Joe you did good!

I was gonna say, I got a Carfax report on a Class A I was considering buying. Told me that it had been written off bought by salvage and repaired. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.
