Monaco Diplomat

Ok, so I really like the Monaco diplomat floor plans 38A and 38D. Im looking to replace our 2003 itasca suncruiser, which we really like except for lack of towing capacity and poor ride (its ok, but not an air-ride)

My question is from 98 to 2000 the diplomat is rated to tow 5000lbs in 2001 it's rated to 10000, what changed? They all seem to have the same chassis

Some help would be appreciated. I'm planning on towing a 24' enclosed aluminum trailer, loaded about 8400lbs (worst case scenario)

Thanks

Gord

I looked at the archives Monaco Coach - Home and the 2000 had a 275 HP engine with an Allison 3060 trans. In 2001, they went to 330 HP and Allison 3000 trans. I'm guessing the new trans and bigger engine caused the up rating.

What changed , In 2000 Monaco went to the ISC 330 engine as a option, was not a option in 98 & 99 they had the ISB 275 engine only.

I wondered if it was just the motor and trans combo. I have seen coachs with the 3060 rated to tow 10000lbs. I'm looking at a coach with an ISC so I may just change the hitch if nec.
