Monaco Dynasty freshwater tank issues

Hello all. I’m new to the RV world and I’m having a tough time with the fresh water tank. I have a 1995 Monaco dynasty 40’. I’m living on a property that will not have water to connect to for another 3 weeks. I have the manual and it only shows 1 water inlet with a valve. I filled the tank (took couple hours and control panel never shows it more than half full) until I saw water dripping from the passenger side of the coach. I assumed the tank was full. After 5 days we’re outa water and I have no idea how big the tanks are. So I have a couple portable water tanks to try and add water to the tank but I can’t find a gravity fill on the coach. Only the one for shore water and it has a valve. I lifted the tank a couple feet about the fill inlet but no water will go in. So I’m wondering if I need to buy a pump to pump the water in? Makes no sense that I can’t add water to the tank with a portable tank. I don’t know how I’m gonna make it a couple more weeks without having to drive somewhere to connect to city water. Any ideas would be great. And if anyone has any idea how I would find out what size my tanks are on this thing would be great to. Love the coach other than the water issue.
Will add a pic below. Water inlet is on the right.

My Dynasty doesn't have a gravity fill, you can only do it with a hose.

If you do not have gravity fill it will be difficult to fill without a pump since the hydrostatic pressure equalizes as the tank fills. There is probably some added resistance with the check valve.

One thing you should do is check the inlet itself and make sure the small screen (if it has one) isn't partially stopped up.

If you have a source near by you should look at buying a small 12 volt transfer pump. I bought a small pump from Harbor Freight that came with clamp on type battery hookups that works pretty good.

I figured I was gonna need a pump and a hose. Was hoping there was an easier and cheaper way. Thank you guys for the info. If anyone knows how to find out what size of tanks I have that would be nice to know. I’ve googled everywhere and cannot find any info.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Is that a valve knob up there where it says "Water tank fill" ? If so, it would appear that you would just connect the freshwater hose to the inlet below, open that valve, and wait for the tank to fill. I can't understand why it would take a couple of hours to fill. The freshwater tank on our Windsor is 87 gallons and I would think your Dynasty would be somewhere close to that. The tank overflow is right in front of the rear tire on the passenger side. Hopefully someone with that same model will be along to help!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Our '94 30' Dynasty is like barmcd's. There is no gravity fill. Ours does, however, have a door on the outside just behind the front wheel on the drivers side that opens up to view the whole end of the tank allowing one to see the water level. The tank drain valve is there as well.

On ours, at the dump/water fill station on the upper right side there is a lever that will direct water to the tank when in the up position and run the system when turned to the side. This requires that a pressurized hose be connected to the water inlet below.

I don't know who decided to place the dump and water intake in the same compartment. It doesn't seem like the most sanitary situation to me, but what do I know.

Steve

Found this thread while searching about a different issue...hopefully you have figured out the answers to your questions but here is my experience on a 1996 Dynasty 40':
1. Fresh water tank is 90 gallons according to the manual
2. Make sure the water pump is OFF before you start to fill the fresh water tank. Even if it is just for a moment, you will pressurize the tank and just send half of it back out the overflow tube once the tank is full. I keep having to learn this lesson
3. There is no gravity fill.
4. Make sure you sanitize the tank. You can google the amount of bleach to use and other relevant steps. My pro tip is this: before you hook the fresh hose to either end, put the bleach in the (empty) hose using a funnel. This way you don't have to do the nonsense of disconnecting pump lines etc. to get the bleach in the tank.

If I'm conscientious about my usage, I have been able to get well over a week out of a tank with my young family of 4. That means no showers/bathing () but oh well we love each other...

I got an extra water pump (for when the one on the RV dies). And I added ends and wires so I can pump water into the rig. Easy to use and to make. Plus if the water pump dies - I already have it.

97 Dynasty does not have a gravity fill.

Must use a hose and turn valve to fill tank.
May need to use a pump to get the job done.

My coach has 110 gallons. Read what you can or YouTube about dry camping. To find all the tricks to save water usage.
