Monaco Executive Power Problems

We have a 2004 Executive and have had a problem with the 12volt power shutting down completely usually while the unit is stopped or traveling real slow. The motor shuts off like the key was turned off all gauges and everything else is off, but I noticed that the Alladin system also shuts down which is not through the ignition key. I turn the key off and after a short while i can turn the key back on and everything is back to normal. It is almost like the switch for disconnecting the motor batteries is being opened. I was curious if anyone has experienced this or have any ideas.

When this happens, does everything that operates only with the ignition on FAIL? Things like:

Allison shift pad light goes out
Dash HVAC fan quits

If so, next time this happens, check voltage IN and OUT of the IGNITION SOLENOID. The ignition switch signal closes the contacts in the ignition solenoid to then supply all those things that operate with the ignition on.

You could also hook up a test light or voltmeter to the OUT of the ignition solenoid to get a quick readout on what is happening there.

If power on the OUT side of the ignition solenoid fails, it could be one of three things:

Bad ignition solenoid
Bad ignition switch (signal not getting to the ignition solenoid)
Wiring problem between the two.

An ignition solenoid failure will not leave you stranded. You just move the cable from one large lug on the solenoid to the other. Then to turn off the ignition, you would just remove it and return it to its original lug.

I would try ignition solenoid first, turn key on and off and you will hear it click, I think it is in outside elec compartment under drivers window, could be getting hot and shutting down.

Monaco Executive

Everything on the ignition goes off plus the Alladin system and other components that are not through the ignition switch. So it is upstream of the ignition.

On my 2004 Signature the ignition circuit is tied to the Aladdin. When you turn the key off a 5 second timer starts and then the Aladdin powers down if no further input from the joystick. What other components shut down?

Many DP have positive wire that feed dash /ign./trans pad with inline fuse within a foot of chassis battery . It's about 8-10ga. Problems ...bad crimp, poor corroded, connection at battery loop or fuse holder getting loose or corroded.
Other issues have been reported from rear start/run switch on panel if equipted. I believe the switch has closed contacts that disconnect front power while on rear switch.

Hi, we found the issue. A 7.5 fuse was blown in the battery compartment. Thank you for your help!
