my new coach was on the lot for 3 years before I purchased it. Thankfully it had the original factory warranty which started at my purchase date. Expect problems with this coach for awhile. The purchase price is too high. Unless you are a mechanic, expect to be shelling out a fair amount of money till everything is working as it should.

my reseaerch says a 1998 coach will not have a port to plug in a computer to search for possible problems. If chassic was built in 1998 it will for sure not have a port.

I just checked RVT without reading the rest of the comments yet...I saw at least three rigs that looked and sounded better than what you were looking at..
Sorry but the best looking-priced is next to me on the West Coast...B.C. friends to the north..
Good Luck!

I think the OP has moved on from this particular coach. If he starts another thread about another coach I am sure there will be a lot of good advice here.

'98 Sig-Senator

Hello Cavdogs. I have owned mine since 2017. Several things stand out. Ours had some questionable repairs done and the result was very costly. Please give me a call at 817/715-5757 and we can discuss it. My phone has an aggressive anti-telemarketer program, so if I miss your call, please leave a message and I will call you back.

A coach sitting for awhile, especially for 12 years, certainly has the potential for red flags. These things were meant to be used. The tires will need to be replaced, they typically age out after 7 and if over 12 years of sitting they will be flat spotted. I would be inspecting air bags closely and any slide out seals. What is the state of the generator and Aquahot system? These would have to be serviced and inspected. I would also test the plumbing fully and I would imagine some things will pop up. Check all roof and seals. If it’s been stored indoors then should have no water issues, that’s a BIG item off the list.

Overall it’s the usual recommendations, get it inspected, get oil samples for the engine, trans, generator and Aquahot. Drive it and inspect it as closely as you can. Does it have any service records? Was it used at all in the last 12 years?

You mentioned that it sat for 12 years, they drove it 600 miles, and then they serviced it...is that the right order? Something about running a Diesel engine on 12 year old lubricants for 600 miles doesn’t sit that well with me.

If it all checks out to you and your comfortable with any issues found, then for the right price it could be a good value. I would factor in a sizeable upgrades and repairs budget. For sure once you start using a coach that’s been sitting for 12 years, you are going to be getting issues popping up for awhile. Are you handy or will you be using a service centre to make repairs? That could be a big factor here, to decide if the numbers work or not.

Any ad or info we can review? Certainly curious, the N14 would be a hot rod!

All the best!
Josh

Let's be realistic about the engine. The chance that the engine was damaged by
sitting for 12 yrs is very small. I don't think it's going to destroy it's self.
I have heard of diesel engines sitting for double even triple that many yrs and being
started right up and driven away. Even equip abandoned in the wilderness.
Those cases were equipment that won't be driven with the family a thousand miles
from home but it illustrates how durable these diesel engines are.
That said I wouldn't buy this coach at that price, 12 yrs opens the question of what
sitting that long might do to any / all of the systems.

So now with Dr. Mike's posting any interest on my part to reconstruct an offer to this guy is compounded by potential competition from any and all of the posters to this thread!!! I get it.

It's been two weeks since your first post. If this were anywhere near a good deal you would have lost it to someone else before we got to page 5.

We're still at a point where good deals are getting snatched up very quickly.

Well, we thought you had walked away from the deal.

All I can tell you is you don't have to worry about me cause I'm out,
no, I was never in.

Actually, a bunch of low ball offers might just bring the guy to his senses
Maybe we could all do that

Two things. Even though CavDog has said he was done, I wasn't going to post the info on the ad, which I ferreted out the first day he posted. That would have been the OP's decision, not mine.

2nd thing: If I made a ridiculously low shill bid, it would have been just my luck that the guy would have accepted it! . . . then where would I have been? I would have had to buy the coach . . . wife would have been pissed, as sadly we are going to be putting OUR coach our coach up for sale in a few months, as well as our house . . . as we are purchasing a boat to move aboard full time. Time to try something different!
