Pull them in. If the slides get jack out of alignment it is either a pain in the assets or a severe pain in the owner. For a few minutes you might save the potential costs are not worth the time you would save.

I agree with Iceman & most of the rest. A few minutes pulling the slides in & out against
the possibility something just might go wrong.

Monaco's will start with slide's out, they have to, due to supposed to be in travel mode before moving slides. Whether the transmission will go into gear, or parking brake will come off, I dont know.

Maybe I am paronoid.....
but I agree...
Last week I witnessed a double slide RV going through the Fairgrounds with all slides open.... He wanted to dump his tanks....WOW what a bonehead move in my humble opinion....
I asked him why...his answer....took too long to bring the slides in...

Slides in or out? We drive them all over the lot here with the slides out. Can't always put a slide in with a foot of snow on top.
Same with the trailers and 5th wheels.Never heard anyone here having a problem. Is it right or wrong?? I don't know but
It's a common thing. Chances are your coach has had miles put on it with the slides Out before it was yours.

I'm not saying take it for a drive with the slides out, but if the thing is going to
Fall apart from moving it a short distance with the slides out its going to fall apart anyways.
If your on a smooth surface no big bumps and not flying around I wouldn't have second
Thoughts about moving it,with the slides out...

A few years back, in a state park in SC, I witnessed a fellow drive off with one slide still extended. It made a kinda sickening crunch when It caught on that big 'OL pine tree. All I had time to do was watch him stop and get out with a sick look on his suddently green face and say, "OUCH"

I watched the dealers at a Monaco Pre-Rally in Salem a few years ago. They repositioned almost every rig on the lot with the slides out every day. They always had a spotter though.
Often I have to move a few feet because I didn't check satellite reception before I got all set up. No big deal.

Relativer Newbie wonders why the wood??
I hate it when someone does this to a thread that I establish, but this one seems to have run its course and there have been a lot of experienced guys replying... I have mad my Monaco for a year and am retiring next month and will start some extended trips to the south and north to escape the seasons in Louisiana. My question is simply. The fellow that started this thread was wanting to move his RV because he was going to place wood under his tires for the long rest. I have heard of this, but I don't understand it. What really does that accomplish for "truck/TV" tires? Is this an urban legend among RVers that supposedly increases tire life, or is this really something that is important. What are the issues?

Don't mind the hijack. I asked the forum what would you do if you were going to sit in FL for about six months and putting wood under the tires was recommended by several responders. I'd be interested to see other answers.

Not sure how the physics work here but apparently, moisture intrusion into the rubber compound is a problem for tires, especially when parked for long periods of time. Sitting on dirt is the worst, on cement isnt much better. Seems like a plastic material would be best vs wood which can also absorb moisture.
