Mystery 'box'?

This is our 'maiden voyage' - 2005 Holidary Rambler Endeavor, and we are discovering all kinds of new things in this coach. One of which is a mysterious metal box in a cupboard under the table along the side of the slide-out. It is metal and about 12" x 14" x 4". There appears to be 12V DC going into the box. It doesn't come out or have any handles and there are no references to it in any of the manuals we have. Does anyone know what this is for or what it does?

Have the same woofer in my Dip, if I crank up the surround I can almost hear it. Wonder if anyone has changed theirs to a better one?

I also have it in the Beaver. I don't think mine is even connected. Just one of the many things I haven't really investigated yet.

Thanks to all who responded! We never even thought it might be a woofer!

WRT "wimpy"...

Many of the Sony 5-disc home theater systems have a bass setting that can be upped or downed (shown in decibels). It's part of the MENU system and speaker setup.

These same Sony systems have passive (non - amplified) subwoofers. Radio Shack -type stores do sell samplified subwoofers ($100 and up range) .... and when such as device is connected to the Sony's subwoofer output, it will rock your world.

I replaced my RCA Home Theater system with a Sony system several years ago. On my Sony, it has a microphone that you place in the center of the room and then run a system test where it plays each speaker and sets it for optimum performance. When I play a movie, my OEM subwoofer can rock you out of your seat.
