Need help finding a 21 tooth gear for my bedroom slide out
I just returned from a 9,100 mile trip. Left 4/17. Arizona to Key West up to northern Maine and back to Arizona. The last morning of our trip my above floor bedroom slide would not retract.
The gear is Power Gear/Lippert part # DN13747, it has 21 teeth. It is listed as obsolete on Lippert website. I know the original manufacturer of the slide out assembly was Dewald. My motorhome is a 2004 Monaco Knight, 34 feet, 330 Cummins. As far as searching salvage yards, does anyone know what years Monaco used Dewald slide assembly's?
Thank You.

Here's a thread from a couple years ago. Maybe you can find it from a

Thanks for the replies. I have not had any luck with salvage yards. They all reply to my e mail request "that they don't have this gear at this time". Some of the yards are knowledgeable about the gear I need and say they get a lot of request for that particular 21 tooth gear. at this point I think I might need to send it to a machine shop to be made. Until I have a solution I will have to stay home. Ill report back on my progress.

Definitely not the cheapest way to go, but here's an alternative.

I had a similar problem with a ring gear on my home diesel generator. None to be found. I took it to a local machine shop who rebuilt the ring gear replacing the missing teeth and worn teeth. It took about a week but actual work was probably less than a day. When it was finished it looked like a new ring gear. the cost was 150 dollars.
I agree with dfb101 take it to a machine shop, explain the urgency of haste, and get it rebuilt. They can work wonders.

Thanks tanman. Problem is here in Lake Havasu AZ the machine shops are 3 months out and not taking on any small jobs.
