Apparently, the step out warning light is a dummy on 2009 coaches....the light goes on when you first start--but then for 2009 the step out warning light no longer functions--this is per tech support--I don't believe them----does someone here have a 2009 unit and the step out light go on when steps go out and ignition is on?

Thanks

I have an 09 scepter and on my trip home yesterday the step out light started coming on but the step was in. I will have to see if it is just a short or somthing.

Tech says its a dummy--they are also sending me a new owner's manual as mine has a 2008 owner's manual...to the gentleman picking up his new 2009 Saturday...please let me know what you find...dealer told me they went to endeavor and ambassador on lot and tried for me and light did NOT come on when steps out although it comes on during the light bulb check...Probably figured they'd save a few bucks a coach by leaving it out.....

Sounds like a great safety item. Wish that feature was available on my 07. Unknowingly drove about 50mi on narrow state road with steps out. Fortunately, I didn't hit anything.

If the steps are out on our 2006 Diplomat and you turn on the ignition the steps come in no matter what the position of the step switch.

Unless steps are out and there is a loose wire to the motor.

My fault for not verifying they went in. 50 mi trip was to a service center for other issues. Fortunately upon arrival someone noticed they were out.

bullydogs1: Sorry for getting this off topic. Hope you get your problem resolved.

Here's the concern on this....yes the steps come in when you turn ignition on...but if door is not completely closed..the steps stay out...nothing wrong the logic of it..but a door ajar left the steps out--so it thinks the door is open so steps come out...open and close door tight--steps in...call it a comfort thing...

Now that I had some time to search it--I find this..

http://www.holidayrambler.com/service/addendums/2009/me...center_medallion.pdf

Under step out description it says not used...SO IT IS A DUMMY LIGHT......BUMMER....just have to make sure I hear those stairs come in and that door is secure....for shame Monaco--for shame....yes I love my coach but don't think I don't notice little things like this for the next time around.

We had the same problem from the day we left the factory in Oregon.
Check the air gap on the step switch magnets underneath. Our step light came on everytime we drove in the rain. Reset magnets to reduce air gap no more trouble.
