Need Help With Detroit 60 Series

Good Morning Folks,

I have a Detroit 60 DP and I need to identify the Filter that screws on and at the top of the mounting bracket there is a pop-up indicator that is showing RED. Is this a oil or hydraulic filter and why is it now showing RED? There is no number on it so can anyone identify it for me? Thank You and Happy New Year!

On mine the pop-up indicator that is showing RED would be an indicator that the air filter is getting clogged, but mine is a Cummins.

Here is a copy of your manual - have a look for it here. Filters are listed on page 375.

I am going to guess, not the air filter, due to your description, sounds like a hydraulic filter minder......most I have seen are in gauge form though.....
Does it look like this "air filter minder" ? Here is another thread on this http://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/hydr...on-225563.html
A photo would tell the story here........
This is what most hydraulic filter indicators look like.....

That's it. Hydraulic filter reminder. Mine has a poop-up at the top of the mounting bracket and showing RED. Does your filter have a number on it? I think it is telling me to replace the filter.

I do not have this type of hydraulic filter setup on my Coach......but our other equipment has the gauge style with the green/yellow/red zones on it. At any rate, its red, change the filter. Is it re-settable? or is it just red when engine is running?
Most hydraulic pressure warning/change filter devices I have seen are not resettable, they just register when pressure is present from engine running......
Hydraulics' is about pressure and air filtration is about restriction.

PaleHorse89,
Yes it can be reset by pushing down on it. But when I start the engine and warm it up, the poop-up comes up and shows RED again. I will replace the filter if I can get the number on that filter.

The "Great Dane" posted the part number above for the filter/s you need,
I would copy/paste this info. into a folder for future reference....

Some Monacos have an hydraulic filter that may be undersized and the pop off indicator may go off soon after a filter change. Replace the filter for sure but don't be surprised if it pops again. I replaced my MP Filtri CSG-100P-10A with a CSG-150A-25A. Just beware the CSG-150A-25A is longer.

DTBT,

Thanks for the added info. I wrote the number down. I heard that the poop-up was recalled and replaced with the gauge type. Has anyone heard anything more about that?

Preston,
I had not heard of the recall but that makes sense as my indicator has popped at least once since I changed to the bigger filter. BTW I actually used the Baldwin BT8310-MPG a replacement for the MP Filtri larger filter. Anyone have the part number or pressure range for the gauge type?
