Need Help with Our Girard G2000 Patio Awning

Our Girard G2000 patio awning goes out fine when you press the Somfy remote control but it will not go in when you press in on the remote instead it goes out more until you hit the stop button.
Also the wind sensor on the roof has been reversed causing the awning to go OUT in a stiff wind! I had to remove the paddle wheel on the roof for safety so it would not go out while driving down the road.

I have been on the phone with Girard in CA but nothing has helped. Any ideas as to what the problem could be and where is there a good service tech in the US besides CA? Any ideas would be a great help!

Happy Camping

You have connection(s) issue. Poor ground, loose wires or even the contacts in your controls need cleaning.
Try spraying electrical contact cleaner on the contacts. Check all wire connections and check ground.
Assuming it was operating before.

You might try contacting Chris Throgmartin at Talinrv.com. Hes a dealer for this kind of stuff, an industry expert, and a really nice guy. He is located in Florida

I recently replaced our Girard wind sensor and there is no polarity on the wiring, it just completes the circuit.

I'm also trying to program the Somfy remote as we only received an empty box with no remote in it. I purchased a replacement and tried researching the programming procedure. You have to interrupt power to the awning in a specific pattern to program the remote. So far I haven't gotten it to work.
If you are close to southern CA, Girard has a great service center. They are busy so you have to make an appointment ahead of time.

Assuming you are reading on IRV2 site when you look down this page you will
see a box called similar threads .
IRV2 has already done a search for you .

Now I am no expert on these things but I manage to remember a little now
and then .
One thing I remember is there is a control box , mine is located in my pass
side slide in the compartment behind and over the passengers head .
On the back wall of that compartment the wall is bumped out a little farther than
the others .
Removing that little wall exposes the control boxes .
One box has some adjustments , adjusting the current limit may help .
I have read that Girard has issued a change to eliminate the current
limiter
I have not done that so don't hold me to it but I think you can just unplug
and connect the plugs together .

Thank you everyone for your input and ideas. We have tried everything but it is being a real bear. Soooooooooo, we have made an appointment with Texas Custom Coach to hopefully reprogram it or just fix it. I will post what they had to do to resolve the problem.

Happy Camping

When I had issues with the remote control not working on the Girard awning on our coach I opened the control box and found some wires that were not crimped correctly, and a couple that were routed such that they rubbed on contacts on one of the boards. I fixed those issues and had no problems since.

+1 for Girard tech support, but I did have to schmooze the tech a little to get him to focus on fixing my problem instead of moving on to the next call when I pointed out that he wasn't understanding the problem. Good guy, just a little stressed I think. They may only have one tech, I get the same one every time I call.

Cheers,

When you get the Somfy remote reprogramming process, will you please post it?
