Hi all and thank you in advance for your responses.

I had a hose split very close to where it attaches to my engine. The hose was easily cut a few inches and reattached. See photo of red hose with arrows. I think this is a dash heater hose. I lost a lot of coolant and of course in the middle of nowhere in Utah.

I would like to replace this hose as it is old. I am hoping to replace it's full length. I have a 2008 Holiday Rambler Navigator with an ISX 600hp engine.

I have a few questions.

1. Could anyone tell me what they think this hose is?

2. Where does this hose go and go through, above storage compartments,etc?

3. Is this a DIY repair/replacement job or is it better left to professionals.

I see a lot of red (high temp) hose going to Aqua Hot. If you are lucky that will be it. Short run but probably tie wrapped so a straight pull not in the cards.

The heater hose is usually red, and about an inch and a half OD (not a precise description but it is smaller than 2" OD).

It will break down over time. That type of hose is used for both the front heat exchanger for dash heat and for the Aquahot engine pre-heat.

I replaced mine after it failed at the connection twice. I used silicone hose which is pretty much lifetime hose, but a lot more expensive. I had it done by a diesel shop because I don't enjoy spending that much time under the coach.

The front half of the system is actually steel pipe, so you don't run hose all the way to the front heat exchanger.

It could go to the aquahot as an engine coolant to aquahot engine coolant hose it you have an aquahot. But that is standard heater hose carrying engine coolant. Most likely to your dash. They strain at the ends much more than inboard so take a little time finding a resonable shop.

I think you will find the two hoses go forward and there should be a coupler on each hose between the drive axle and the tag. From the engine to the couplers is only about 4 to 5 feet. I had to change one of my hoses because it started to leak, so I changed them both. The hose should be 5/8 inch inside measurement. Not too hard a job, I also put ball valves coming off the engine incase they ever spring a leak again.
The hoses from the couplers forward seemed to be in very good condition.

Looks like you have both a red and a black hose close to each other.
Does the black hose look like it was changed recently?
If not, I would follow koole's advice and change them both as when you remove the hose you are going to lose a fair amount of coolant. I also agree with replacing them with silicone hose.
Probably should get new clamps with the new silicone hose.
If the coolant has not been changed in the last few years, this may be a good time to update to the lifetime Cummins Compleat OAT coolant.

The black hose that is close to the red hose is the aquahot preheat loop hose. That hose was changed three years ago as this hose also split just at the aquahot box.

I will take the advice and use silicone hose. I had the aquahot hose replaced by a truck shop, Colton Truck Terminal Garage in Colton California. I think I will go back there to have this hose replaced. I have an appointment next month for an annual maintenance. I hate working under the coach.

I am most curious about if there is hose along the entire run from front to back or if there is pipe running within the storage bay areas.

I will report back with how the repair goes and what situation is for hose vs. pipe in the middle of the coach.

Keep oil and grease off the silicon hoses. It doesn't stand up well to petroleum.

I just changed both those hoses. One goes to the Aqua-Hot and was one piece all the way. The other hose goes the the dash heater. It was about 5 feet, than is coupled to PEX. PEX all the way to the front than back to rubber hose. Changed hose and the PEX fittings. The other end of the loop connects right by the coolant filter and is setup the same way, rubber to the Aqua-Hot and rubber/PEX/rubber for the dash heater.
