New cable to rear TV?
My rear TV won't get a picture on the factory cable. I disconnected the front TV cable and connected another cable straight from that input to the rear TV and can get a picture that way. From that I surmise I have an issue with the factory cable. Is it possible to pull a new cable using the original as a pull wire?

If your front tv works, check the connections behind your DVD player, antenna amplifier etc first.

If the bedroom tv is in a wardrobe/closet slideout, check under it, there will be a coupler, could be loose.

I'm not using the built in switch or a VCR. The input comes in from the antenna to a two way splitter which connects to two cables, one to the front and another to the rear. I jumped around the rear cable and the TV works. It has no signal on the original cable.

I used the extra cable to ohm out the rear cable and I have continuity front to back, but the TV won't work on it. I used a bullet to connect the end of the cable in the bed room to my extra cable and ran that cable to the front of the coach. Then I used a DVM to test continuity between that cable and the other end of the bedroom cable. Since there are only two ends of the cable and I sort of tested the bedroom end with the bullet, I think the front connector may be bad.

The cable runs straight into the ceiling.

Could be the two way splitter. Those things are cheap and can go bad. Use a barrel connector instead of the splitter to check it. Otherwise, it has to be a bad cable. You could use a fox and hound to trace it and verify where a break could be. May be easier to just replace the cable though. I would think the original cable would be strapped with others and you could not fish it back there.

Part of your question. It probably impossible to use the existing cable as a pull cable for a new wire. The manufacturers just can't help themselves from attaching cable to places along the way. They run the wires when the walls and ceiling are open.

I by passed the splitter and nothing changed. I can run it off another cable, but not the original. I can't figure out why it ohms out good though.

Could be a skint place on the wire that's grounding out. That may not show up with the VOM. If you're only wanting over the air TV signal you could buy a cheap glass mount antenna at Walmart atleast to get by till you have a chance to run a wire. Best of luck to you. It's a long ways to run a cable.

You may want to invest in a signal tracer.
Shop Southwire Analog Tone and Probe at Lowes.com
Short of that, cut the end off at the TV, strip the shield back and keep the shield and center conductor apart. Test for continuity at the front between the shield and center conductor ... should be NO continuity. Go to the back and short the shield to the center conductor. Check at the front for continuity ... should be a few ohms at most. Assuming it passes both tests, it should be a good cable. Replace both ends with new connectors and try it. I've had good cables that had short center connectors that won't reach far enough into the TV connector.

1. You may want to look closely in the rear tv cabinet it's not uncommon for the factory to run 2 coax cables to the rear ..I don't know why perhaps someone can elaborate as to the factories thinking here .
2. As your already finding out here that running new coax cable to the rear could get complicated and very time-consuming.
Before I made that leap of replacing it I would try cutting it back an inch and installing new ends on the existing coax first…just because it’s simple.
Not tooo much can go wrong with coax cable ....Think now !......what was the last thing you ran a screw in ?

Do you have an outside TV also? If so, there is usually a hidden splitter as the outside TV is normally on the same coax as the rear TV. That splitter could be defective?

possible alternative to coax cable
Depending on pocket book and 'adversity to newer technology' as well as existing equipment - may want to consider a wireless transmitter / receiver.
I believe iogear makes some.
good luck.
I'm facing a similar problem with my backup camera - Not wanting to re-wire it but not wanting to go wireless either.
