New to me 1992 Dynasty 38 - Take me to school!

Okay, so I figured I'd start a new thread with all the questions I have (and will have) on this behemoth that I just bought.

1. As it is with all used purchases, there was a nice surprise for me when I got home after a 30 mile drive...I sizeable (12" diameter) puddle under the engine. F'ing SUPER! Its coming from the trans bellhousing inspection hole on the bottom and I am almost certain its tranny fluid. The oil on the dip stick is clean as though its brand new. The leaking fluid is not clean. Doesn't smell like burnt clutches, so I guess that's good.

Any insight on the magnitude of this job? should I polish it and sell it? Or is it not the worst thing that could happen?

Anyone know of anywhere in SE Michigan to get this thing serviced?

2. Left rear airbag is leaking down after shutting the engine off. Pumps up fine, maintains level at idle but still need to repair that.

Anyone done this before? I am not a mechanic by trade, but I can get most stuff done. I don't have the equipment for heavy duty work though.

Thanks in advance.

Nick.

Sounds like you lost trans seal input shaft seal. You should be able to find a vid to drop an Allison 3000 trans. RWD auto/truck have changed seal while on jack under vehicle, rather than drag it out and reposition too much.

I would not rule out that it may be engine oil. If it is, my guess it is rear main crankshaft seal. A kit is made for this renewal that sleeves the crankshaft with a thin sleeve to give the new seal a new contact surface. Don't have any idea of costs. If you can get past the bug a boohs, I believe it will bring you much pleasure, hang in there and good luck.
