Every RV, 12 volt pump I've ever replaced , was self priming .

Check your install and water level in the fresh tank .

All I have seen in 30+ years is self priming. Are you sure you have water in the tank. If you have water in the tank. Are the valves on the input side of the pump all turn to the correct position..
All campers are diffrent. On mine I have to have the FW tank valve open and the FW tank drain valve closed.

If the valves are in the right portions I would assume you are sucking in air and you have a vacume leak between the pump input and the water. Fix the air leak and it should work.

When you changed the pump , did you turn off the water supply from the tank ? Don't know how you did the repair without stopping water from coming to pump .

Blow back through the supply line at the pump into the tank ; see if you can hear bubbling of the air entering the tank .

Any chance you installed the pump backwards?

Otherwise sounds like a valve set wrong or a lose fitting allowing air to be pulled into the intake side of the pump. Is the filter screen housing on the intake side of the pump screwed on tight?

If there's any loose connections on the intake side of the pump it won't work. Tighten all your connections.

Why did you replace the original pump?

It stopped working,I checked it out and I found the hot wire going to the lower connector was off ,the spade for it on the pump head had broken off,a new pump head was $ 32.00 and a brand new pump was $70.00,the old pump was 19 years old.

It is now pumping water but not enough,it is only about half of what it used to.I went over all the fittings all are thigh, there is not enough pressure to shut off the pump? There is NO water leaking any where and all the facets are off.

I put it just like the old one.the filter screen is on very tight.
I connected to city water and opened the tank fill valve and add water up to half,so I know there is enough water and I put the fill valve back to off?
