I created an Excel spreadsheet into which I enter items that need to be brought from home. Then I save the file (unique file-name) for that particular trip. Excel also has an easy alphabetical SORT function, so items can be inserted at any location, then the list can be "cleaned up" by performing a SORT. This is why you see my introduction of some items like "Entertainment" and "Tool". When sorted, all Entertainment (for example) is grouped together. Here is a short list that I copied from one of my trips:

Atlas
Battery Box (9 volt, AA, AAA, etc.)
Canvass chairs (2)
Cassette player (for audio books)
Cat litterbox rugs
Cat food
Charger stand for GPS, phone, camera
Computer s/w CD case
Entertainment: CD audio disks
Entertainment: DVD movies
Glasses: 2nd eyeglass pair
Jumper Cables
RV Log Book
Set Call Forwarding (on the home phone)
Tool: nut-driver & screwdriver chest
Tool: drill
Tool: reciprocating saw
Tool: additional 18v Batteries
Tool: band saw
Toolchest w/ sockets & wrenches

There's a web site called Changing Gears (I think) where one of its members was nice enough to put out the attached lists. If I haven't successfully provided the links via this msg, try going to the Changing Gears web sote or get back to me.
