Even seasoned pro's get burned by the "salesmans switch"...

With fur babies on board in extreme heat I just did not want to risk them bumping the switch nor me on the way out.

Many of us have bypassed it do to this and the fact that the solenoid that is involved can drive you crazy.

You being a novice could use some resources to help bring you up to speed on these very complex systems. Dividing the electrical systems into DC and AC is always confusing at first but after awhile it becomes second nature.

Check this out and at the end there is a link to a second part.

After hitting this @#$% switch at least twice (it is exactly the same as the porch light and several others all in a row), I took tape and covered the switch so it couldn't be used accidentally. Has worked, so far! Enjoy VT - my home for 38 years!

That seems to be it.
We were outside entertaining, and when my wife went inside she stated we had no power (lights, etc.). We have 3 curious dogs, so perhaps on of them hit the salesman switch? Anyways, thanks for making it easy for me.
This is a great site for rookies like me.
I have learned to check the "easy" things first. Glad that it was something simple.
