No Crank!
Hi All,
I recently tried to start my 2006 Monaco Diplomat. Turning the key on made all the bells and whistles turn on but then voltage dropped to 10 or below. when I tried to start all I can hear is a click but no attempt to crank. I cleaned all battery connections, checked continuity of cables and even tried new batteries! Still only a click! Anyone have any ideas!
Thanks
Kent

Is there an Aux Start button connecting the coach batteries to the chassis that can be pushed when attempting to crank?

No Crank!
There is a battery boost that does nothing to help!

A bad solenoid or relay can pull the voltage down.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the battery. It started a couple of times on boost before it wouldn't start at all.
Before you crawl around under the coach, take the battery down to an Auto Zone or O'Reilly Auto Parts and have them test the battery. Check the easiest things first.

New batteries, clean cable ends.
Next thing to check is the ground connection from the battery to chassis and from the engine to the chassis.
Get someone to listen for the starter mounted solenoid to clunk in, while you turn the key.

If the new batteries drop below 10 volts ,you've either got bad batteries or a shorted starter.I would put a charger on the new batteries overnight and try again in the morning.

I had that same response from my starter this spring. It was a bad Bendix and the starter
got jammed. I turned the engine backwards and then it would start. I did that a few times
until I got a chance to pull the starter and found a worn out bendix and replaced it.

Did you measure that 10 volts at the starter or at a battery connection?

That was on the dash gauge. I am going to do the voltage drop tests today.
