No DC Power

2000 Monaco Dynasty - diesel Onan generator

Pulled MH out of storage today. Started it up and everything was working. Went to the dump station to flush the tanks. The generator was running. Started to show my DW the tank monitor function and suddenly all DC stopped working.

RC-7 panel for the inverter shows the inverter working as does the light on the inverter.

Checked all fuses that I could find and changed the continuous duty solenoid for the domestic side. No go. On both the original and the new solenoid if I jumper the solenoid the lights will come on.

Oops. Turned out to be the infamous salesman switch. Why the DC suddenly failed when we were both far from the switch shall remain a mystery, akin to where one would find Sasquatch this weekend, although we will keep an eye out for our furry neighbor when we cross over the North Cascades this weekend.

Maybe the MH is possessed. Might need an exorcist. Be sure to pay the bill from the exorcist or you will get re-possessed.

Those solenoids are prone to failure. Sounds like your backup had failed before it even had a shot at working.

Your best solution is to leave the bypass cable in place and go about your RV lifestyle knowing that it will NEVER happen again.
