Sorry that I'm a little late to the party, but these ISX engines had weak starters from the get go. I replaced mine with the Denso gear reduction starter as I learned about them on this forum. Mine would always crank over like it had half dead batteries and if you shut it off while fueling you were lucky to get it to start with the boost switch. Now it cranks right up just like you would expect one to. Glad you got yours going again, you needed a starter no matter what, just too bad it happened on the road and not at home.
