Norcold AC quit

Hi Guys,

I have a Norcold 121/120 frig. It was working fine on LP and AC and then suddenly it stopped working on AC.

The oat, load and other variables were fine. So I know it stopped working. I reset the CBs in the bedroom and replaced a good 15 amp fuse in the front left outside electrical compartment.

The inside light still comes on AC and the front control panel is still working. There are no fault codes.

I do hear a faint noise from the frig on AC.

Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this?

Thanks so much for all your help.

Search for 618968B Norcold service manual. This can help you trouble shoot it.

On my refrigerator you can use the digital display to do a diagnostics check. You press 2 of the buttons at the same time and then it will start the diagnostic display. You go through a series of screens, each on displays any problems and the manual explains what they mean.

Bite the bullet and replace the Nocold with residential. Ice dispenser, water dispenser frozen ice cream automatic defrost. What's not to dislike? I did it and never looked back.

Thank you jacw,
I checked my spec sheet and it is the 1200LRIM model. So the service manual I download should work with it except that my display panel is a little different from what they show.

They explained to press and hold the mode and temp set buttons for 5 seconds. But the only thing that happened was I got a 88 in the temp set window. I am not showing any fault codes. I don't know how to move through the "pages".

Also the temp number, 9 for example, does not flash when the temp set button is pressed.

So I went to AU mode and in 10 secs it went to AC. The manual states this means it is getting AC power.

There are a couple of fuses in the back of the frig I can try changing. Not sure what else to do. The manual does say I do not have a cooling problem because it cools fine in LP mode.

How do I get it to move through the "pages"?

thanks moira

First off....check that you have 120V AC power to the outlet frdge is plugged into.
No 120V at outlet then find which CB is tripped or IF a GFCI is tripped.
Got 120V then fridge electric heater(s) could be bad.....you have 2
Unplug the leads at control module for heaters....test resistance S/B 64 ohms
Also check the 5A glass fuse (AGC type) on control module........it is for the AC heaters

Diagnostic mode
Depends on SN of fridge

Press and Hold 'mode' & 'temp' buttons at same time
Release then when '88' appears
Then press/hold 'mode' button to scroll thru screens

Press and Hold 'mode' & temp' buttons at same time
Release when '1' appears .... a few seconds later '88' should display
Then press/hold 'mode' button to scroll thru screens

Service Manual........pg. 45 is info on diagnostic screens
