Norcold odd problem

Well I broke it myself, on my 2005 Dynasty it has the Norcold 1200 refer, I added two small muffin fans last summer up in the top to exhaust the hot air, and it has been working very well, no problems, but the temp sensor I installed was on a heat tube that was to hot, so I was moving it to a tube that was a little cooler, anyway I sparked it, and blew the 12V power to the refer. My connection was to the rear of the refer at the 12V wire, the muffin fans don't draw much of a load so that should be OK, but something blew and there is no power to the refer that I can find, I located the refer 20A fuse in the electrical box in the engine compartment, is says refer 20A, so that must be it, but it tests fine, I have looked everywhere no other fuses that I can find, my guess I blew the board in the refer, anyone have any ideas where to go now other than get it into a shop, thanks Ron

Some have a small fuse on the control module fro the frig. You will need to remove a plastic cover on the back if you do not see the small fuse there.

If you are talking about the snap disk, that uses 12 VDC positive for it to operate as a power switch.

I don't completely understand how you could have "sparked" it when moving it to a different fin unless you touched the HOT side of the snap disk to a fin which is ground. That would cause a dead short.

But anyway, there are probably multiple fuses to check. Also, don't assume that the fuse is good just by looking at it.

There should be two fuses on the control board under a plastic cover. One is for the board and the other is for the 120 VAC heaters.

There could also be a 12 VDC fuse located on a fuse panel somewhere that supplies power to the control board.

Once you have checked ALL of the fuses, use your DVOM to ensure that you have 12 VDC power to the board. If all checks out and the fridge still doesn't power up, then you may have toasted the control board and possibly the eyebrow control board.

THe spark was a short, I bumped the snap switch by accident, all the connectors now have a cover over them, the plastic cover I have removed both fuses inside are good, and tested good, the 20A refer fuse also tested good, I even replaced it just to make sure, like I said this is an odd one and looks like out of area of fixing it

Have you verified that you definitely have 12 VDC going to the board?

If yes, then start looking at replacing control boards.

If no, then you need to find out why the 12 VDC power is not there.
