Red face Ok I should have checked...No receipts...What services should i do?

I did ask the seller for receipts and he said they were all there in the Monaco Boxes... Then he showed me the manual and said, "this is the book you need to read, it has all the info you need..."
and then we were on to something else... So, I didn't actually see the receipts.

Now, I had a few moments and I looked, and no receipts. However, I do feel that the seller did have the services done, but didn't take the time to put the receipts into the boxes? I'm probably just looking at the good in people but on his behalf he did say new tires, and in fact there are new tires from 2016...

Well, here again I need to read the date codes, but they look new...

I guess i have no question... Just publicly admonish me so others don't do what I did...

Start with change of all filters and oil, and pull samples of fluids. Due full service on genset, chassis lube and check for proper brake operation. Then just live with it for a while and see what crops up.

Don't fret over it... it's all small stuff over the life of an rv !!!
(actually, 99.99% of things here in the states are small things we are SO spoiled )

Your engine is designed to last 100's of thousands of miles, what's service on the engine and gen? 4 to 600 dollars ? bet you paid much more than that for the coach !

good luck and enjoy your coach !

When we bought our Windsor the first thing I did was take it to Speedco for maintenance, including the generator. Been taking it back to them every year since! Costs me about $300 for the whole package!

So far (on my 4th MH) have never had the receipts for service. They were all bought from dealers (3 from small dealers).

I did have an MOT safety inspection receipt on my 2003 which noted that one brake canister had been replaced and all new tires put on and balanced.

For the DPs I put them in at my local diesel shop and started with oil changes and general inspection. I trusted them to tell me what was needed. On my 2003 I did replace several items and spent about $4K over four years.

My latest acquisition (2008 HR Scepter 42PDQ) has a sticker from the dealer saying next service in 10,000KM. I have no idea what they did and based on the sales and PDI experience I don't trust them. I'm having an oil change done and general inspection soon.

On the other hand, this is also the 1st MH where I took out a very expensive 4 year extended warranty.

I've generally found that if it seems the PO took care of the inside and the outside then they "probably" took care of the other items. Even if all maintenance was done you could still have a major issue.

So you're probably OK though it seems sketchy that the PO said receipts were in the box - its something you would know.

So first thing find a real good general diesel/truck shop and have them become your new best friends.

Chris

Cat or Cummins engine? Take the MH to a good shop and have 'em crawl all over it. Chassis lube (chart in your manual), new filters (coolant, hydraulic, AIR, oil) check your air dryer filter to see if it needs replacing. Check dash AC for refrigerant charge (oh, that's right, you live in SC-natural air conditioning). Check serpentine belt for wear. Check to see if your Allison tranny has Transynd fluid in it. If so, you are good, if not, you might want to change to Transynd and change trans oil filters while your at it. One good thing, once you change to Transynd, that it. Its good for (lotsa) miles, I forgot how many (100k?) What'd I miss? Service Onan generator and Aqua-Hot (you'll have to find someone with AH experience) Get ready for a big bill! I'm still troubled by the change all fluids 1x/yr. I only put 5k miles on the MH a year-with that kind of mileage, the fluids, I think, are like brand new.

Think you have a Cummins engine, anyway, any prior service performed at a Cummins dealer will show up on their computer, at least that's the way it is when I take my MH to a CAT dealer. Have the Cummins dealer check your ECM for updates, just one more thing.

I just went through this with our Sig. It had 76,000 miles when we bought it in March. Since we had no idea what had been done and when, we had everything serviced. The engine oil, trans, generator, all filters, coolant, the rear axle oil, front wheel bearings, and they found the tag seals leaking so we did that too. Now I have a good baseline for everything. Now going forward I can put the Sig on a maintenance schedule and I know it is ready for my upcoming long distance trips. It was good piece of mind getting it all done. When it was at the garage, I also had an inspection done so I know where we stand. In the future I will do most of the work myself, but I had Colton Truck Terminal do the initial work because the dealer we bought it from paid for some of the work and Colton was already doing the repairs.

Just assume nothing has been done, if not documented. Make a schedule of things to be done. Oil and filter changes for the propulsion engine and generator to start, to include the propulsion engine air filter. Other items over the next year or so.

I would look at the bottom of all filters, fuel, hydraulic, oil, even the bottom of the trans. Sometimes a good service tech will date, and write the mileage on the bottom of the filters. When I purchased my coach it was on them, and that is how I do it secondary proof of being done and time code. Of corse Colton Truck Terminal did the previous service on my coach.
I use a white paint pen and write on the filters, even did it on my diff. Mileage and date. Good habit to get into, even ask you service tech to do it for you it you have someone else do it. Heck provide the paint pen, but get it back.

Don't feel bad, I didn't get any with my coach either. I did like the others. I went to my local Cat dealer cuz he is across the street from my work and told them to change every filter that they could find and any fluid that went with that filter. I now have a baseline to work from and someday when I sell this coach the next owner will have a lot of receipts to read through. It's been an awesome coach Since we purchased it three and a half years ago.

When we first bought our rig it had no reciepts and was a repo so I assumed the worse. I took it to the local Cummins shop, I knew the Manager, and had a complete service and inspection done. When complete he said the rig was "Cherry" so I got lucky.

Since then I've done all my own services. By doing this I can inspect the undercarriage and make sure things get done correctly.

You missed the calendar time requirement. Allison requires that Transyd be changed after 4 years despite low mileage. In addition there are two transmission filters that need regular replacement.
