Onan 10 K diesel wont start

Genny starts but immediately stops with an error code 45.

Set auto start and auto stop to manual on the RC7.

Oil level is where it should be
Coolant level is at the minimum when cold line.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Code 45 is a speed sense fault you can look in your manual or go to Onans web site.

Went through this a couple of months ago. Replaced fuel pump all is well. With a bad pump you can get multiple error codes...most in the Onan Manual end up with...replace control board...$1200. After lots of web searching and horror stories about big$$$ bills, some with multiple trips I settled on trying the fuel pump. Easy change out, behind two bolt panel on the side with the big door down in the lower corner rear. Runs like new.

This AFTER replacing a cracked fuel line and replacing the fuel filter. Monaco is famous for some too tight tie wraps pinching the fuel line so check that easy one first. If you have someone hold the start switch in prime position and then listen in the fuel tank with the cap off you should hear a strong, steady stream of fuel...just a trickle= fuel problem.

10K ONAN
Fuel NAPA 3063
Air NAPA 6449
Oil NAPA 1311
Fuel Pump (electric) Airtex E11020 EXACT replacement for Onan 149-2790 or 149-2692 $60-70 on Ebay or at O' Riellys or AutoZone or Cummins if you want to drop $170 for the same pump with a Cummins label pasted over the Airtex label.

Also check the wire bundle just inside the big door, mine was chafing on the engine mount, shorted and caused the same shutdown events you have. This was a separate event from the fuel pump for me, but had me chasing electrical for several hours before deciding on fuel issue the next time.

IF that little diesel will not start and stay up to speed all bets are off on reliablity of error codes because it doesn't have enough run time to accurately signal what is wrong.

Hope this all works for you...
Mine quit at about 2400 hours.

Im with twomed on this.. definitely also Check the battery connections. I know it sounds ludicrous, however, it for some reason it cannot sense the batteries it shuts down.. had a friends '05 Discovery 39L starting, running for a few seconds, then shutting down - turned out the negative terminal to the batteries was horribly corroded and loose. Took it apart, cleaned it all up and voila, no issues over 1000 hours later.

Thanks to all for the help. It was a cracked fuel line. $4.00 to fix. Took a while to prime but all is well.

Thanks again

So where was the crack? Was it close to the fuel filter? If so do you think it was cracked when changing the filter?

TWOMED, thanks for the filter and pump numbers. This sort of info is invaluable and hard to find.
