Onan hdcaa diesel 10kwh glow plugs ?

Anyone know where the fuse or relay is to power the Onan Gen set glow plugs ?
05 Executive
I can hot wire the glow plugs from a booster pack for 10-20 secs & it starts immediately.
Any help would be much appreciated

Bob,

Go to this website:
Cummins Onan

and search for the manual on your gen set.

They are activated by the control module....plastic encapsulated. Manual says max activation time is 15 seconds. When at altitude and cold out (here in Yellowstone in May) mine starts like cr#*. A stupid engineering move methinks. :(

A hot wire mod next time the cover is off sounds like a good idea.

Glow Plugs

That engine for the Genset is a Kubota. Might try a tractor dealer such as John Derr. Probably alot less expensive than going through Onan.

Thanks Bob, "took the bull by horns" & removed the top of the Gen set case ( not just the small one ) and retraced the harness from the glow plugs. BINGO ...... found 3 relays under the right front corner of the case. They could not be found by removing the small corner cover on the top RF of the case ( this is the hookup area for the 120/240V ). Tested the relay and found a similar relay at local auto store ( $5.00 compared to Onan's $12.90 ) ! Many thks to all who offered help.

All fixed, thks FYI, got to removed top case to access relays which are in upper right hand top corner ( 3 of the side by side ). Blown relay, replaced for $5.00 and many hours of sorting it out. cheers

Glad to help. I know about tearing the top and sides off the Onan 8K. Ours had a coolant leak and it was at the end of the radiator hose that could not be easily accessed. Turned out that Onan had used the wrong kind of hose clamp and it would not tighten up on the hose.
