One way to fabricate latches for the curb side tank access door.

A few days ago I posted a photo of where the tank flush is located on most Monaco coaches. The photo showed our tank access door propped up and the home made brackets for my latches were visible. A member noticed them and PM me about it. I made that mod about three years ago and had taken some photos. I dug out the photos and scanned in my hand drawn sketch and the page from the McMaster-Carr catalog where the draw latches were purchased. Don't faint when you see the price. They are 304 Stainless steel and don't come cheap. Since the brackets and latches are under the coach and exposed to some very harsh conditions, I felt they needed to be stainless and the brackets are aluminum. The screws in the brackets are black stainless. Here is the link to the photos in my area:

I am sure there are many other ways to add latches to the door so feel free to use your imagination.

Some may be wondering what this thread is all about. Monaco has a hinged tank access door on the curb side of the coach that is screwed shut at the bottom. Many of us have chosen to make that door easy to open for what every reason.

As normal great job and explanation. Pictures showed everything I need. Do you have any kind of lock?

Darn nice. Something else for the ever expanding "things to do when there's time" list!

Dave,

No lock. You could purchase the type that accept a lock. I figure most folks will not even know the latches are down there. If they do and are inclined to steal my black tank then I guess they can have it.
