Yes vacuum can damage things not made to withstand it. Glad you made it back to get repaired, hopefully without using any epoxy products . They can real bugger to re-weld after especially aluminium.

As of 11/11/2021, Source Engineering has the aluminum replacement for the original plastic surge tank in my 2005 Safari Cheetah, which I understand would be the same as Monaco Windsor and Diplomat, but I don't know if other Monacos of the early 2000s would be the same. Jim Walls at 458-207-9442 is very knowledgeable and helpful.
