Passenger seat foot rest weak

I have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty Emperor IV. Passenger seat foot rest is not working properly and struggles to extend. It will deploy if you help it extend. Looked under the seat and confirmed the drive motor is working so I believe it is either the cable drive or the gears in the extend assembly. Anyone else ever have this problem and what did you do to correct the issue. I'm thinking of taking the seat out and using a test battery to drive the seat footrest motor on my portable work bench to watch the mechanism. I'm hoping it is just the internal drive cable which is probably easy to resource and replace. If it is one of the drive or extend gears I hope it is still commercially available or I can get one from a salvage yard. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. Joe

I can't help but there was a post on here recently about lubricating the mechanism for the footrest. maybe do a search for footrest or similiar. Just a thought.
Happy Trails, Bert

We have a Flex Steel seat in our Discovery with a slow and noisy footrest. I removed the seat and flipped it upside down and then sprayed dry lube on all exposed joints. Then I disconnected the cables (flexible shaft or speedometer cable) and cleaned and used a grease on the inner cable. Then I greased the two screws that make the footrest go up and down.

Now the foot rest is much quieter, and definitely faster.

Side discussion:
Our Flex Steel seats have seat heaters that are way too hot. I removed the passenger seat a second time and installed new seat heaters. They work great as my better half has praised me over and over.

Footrest

On my 2004 windsor the footrest did not work. The manufacture is villa furniture. I googled there contact info and called them. They shipped out a new gear with motor. Unbolted seat so I could get to the bottom of it
Straight forward bolt in process. Wifes happy.

Went thru this recently.

Look under the seat about mid-way to the back of the seat. If you have two tubes, with rods coming out of them, grease the rods, then run the footrest up and down a few times.

If you have a Flexsteel seat, once you unbolt and lean the seat over you will see what looks like a Lazy Susan circular ball bearing plate. Don't forget to lube that plate and be careful tightening the center bolt. Don't overdo it. greasing that plate will allow the chair to swivel around so much easier!

I think ours is villa too, but our footrest is driven by a worm gear and SOMEONE didn't want to wait for it to power back in and put too much weight on it...
BENT the worm gear and for a while it went in and out like a drunk... up and down,up and down

after a sufficient time for them to suffer through it and learn their lesson (NOT that I would remind them each time it went out - NO, not me !!!)

I pulled the worm gear and bent it back straight....
