Passenger seat height

Hi,

After our first trip in our new (to us) 2003 Monaco Dynasty, my wife found the passenger seat is a couple of inches too high for her to get her feet on the stair cover while traveling.

She tried all the seat adjustments, but could not get comfortable. The power leg rest did help, but she want something to raise the floor a bit (need about two inches).

I'm not sure that a wood box riser placed on the stair cover will work (due to having to move it anytime we retract the stair cover). But something like that may be the best answer.

Just thought I'd see if anyone else had the same problem and what solution you came up with.

Thanks for all the help in this great/friendly forum,

Jim and Sue

The seat is mounted on pedestal base, you might be able to take if off the seat and have it cut off and rewelded.

DW is 52 and she also does not touch the floor. So she uses the aluminum step we also use outside. Just a thought.

I agree that you can measure the room available to cut the pedestal. Should be a very simple job for a welder.

Thanks everyone - for now I'm going to look into something moveable that I can set on the stair cover.

Need something not too bulky and easy to move when we stop.

It will also need to be stable when in place.

I'm thinking it needs to be about 2-3" high, 20" wide, and 12" deep. I don't want to cover the entire stair cover because that would make the lift too big to easily move when we stop.

Maybe I can make something.

I made a small step from 2 x 4's and an OSB platform 12" x 10" for the DW to step up into our old Jayco Seneca super "C".
Put a couple strips of nonskid tape on it.
Made it much easier for her to exit the cab and step up to the floor of the coach.
Later moved to a class "A", with a flat floor, and had a much happier DW.

Check into a step platform that is premade for exercising. Might get lucky and find something that would work.

My 5-2 wife uses a 5"x5" box about 8" long to set her feet on. She finds it very comfortable and uses it on long trips in my 2500HD as well.
Been doing this for 100k miles in an 04 Sig.

Try HD density foam from upholstery shop and have it covered. Can even add a length of strap that can be pulled up out of the way when needed. Light weight but should work fine for foot rest

I saw some bath steps on ebay most were 4" some a little less.

Better yet, here is a beautiful wood stool and it's close to the right size.
Plus, it's 3 1/2 inches tall.
