I added a 6” pipe nipple to mine which helped but didn’t stop it from losing water. Finally put loose wooden sticks in which pretty much stopped the loss.

I too got tired of the water draining/siphoning from the vent any time that I move. The vent pipe on my motor home is rigid plastic pipe, PEX I think, so I bought a 3/4" Shark Bite fitting onto the pipe and added a valve that I close when the tank is full to prevent the siphoning. I open the valve when we reach our destination and leave it open until I refill the next time while traveling.
I only gravity fill, so I'm not worried about overpressuring the tank when filling.

I only have pressure fill, and at 60psi through a 1/2" PEX it takes a looooong time. The only easy indication is the overflow which used to bu under the coach about halfway over. By the time you figure out what's going on it's well overfilled and it's gonna siphon. Easy to over-pressure it as well.

So, I moved it to where I can't miss it and it's much higher to make siphoning harder.

I think I'm going to do the same thing because I happen to have a spare ball valve. I'm not going to worry about over-pressurizing or collapsing the tank because, as someone stated above, there is a gravity fill at the top of the tank and I know it vents and overflows. So even if I forget to open the vent valve it's just going to come out of another place - the gravity fill port.
