Popping Tiles

We have an 07 Camelot. I have 2 tiles that if stepped on just right they pop. I know the are rocking just enough to make the noise. I have read that you drill a tiny hole then inject glue through the hole with a hypodermic needle. Just curious if anyone has done this?

I would recommend that you remove the grout and take up the tiles. There may be issues with the underlayment or the epoxy mastic that should be holding them down.

Its just 2 tiles and I do not have any extra tiles. I tried getting a few from monaco sometime ago. I know that Before the bankruptcy Monaco used to inject them to fix the problem with good success. I think its caused from a pocket under the tile where is a void with no adhesive in it. If I had some extra tiles I would just pop it up and replace it. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury.

Like Dave mentioned if the tile is popping you should be able to remove the grout and lift the tile out. Clean the adhesive off and re-apply the original tiles. I've done this several times with great luck. Just take it easy and don't force it.

The fact that the tiles came loose point to a problem with the underlayment or the adhesive application. If you keep stepping on loose tiles, they often will crack. I'd remove the tiles as suggested by removing the grout. Inspect and clean the floor and tile backs. If the floor is soft or moving, it needs to be fixed before installing tiles again. If it is just a case of a poor application of adhesive, then clean both surfaces, reapply correct tile adhesive and reinstall. Grout and be done with it. The fact that two tiles are loose could be an indication of a bigger problem. Be sure all other tiles are tight and the floor under them is is good shape.

I would remove the grout and then try to inject glue from the sides without removing the tiles.

I had an apartment with the tiles coming loose. Some even cracked. I had some one come in and they drilled some holes in the grout and injected an adhesive that worked very well. They also located other tiles that were failing by taping on the center of each tile, if there was dull thud sound then the adhesive was failing. Cause of the failure was the floor was not cleaned prior to installing tile properly.
