Possible 2006 Knight purchace, need advice

I've come across a 2006 Monico Knight for sale in my area. The current owners bought it 15 months ago and have been living in it at an RV park. In that time, they haven't moved it much, but have run the engine and gen. to keep them exercised. The coach has 19000 MI. and the gen. has 50 hrs. The awnings are 1 yr. old and everything works as it should. The last service was when they bought it. The tires are 2009's and it may need batteries. They are asking $89000 for it. I'm a little afraid it might have some problems from not being used much.

I would appreciate any advice. What would be a good offer if I decide to move forward?

Thanks, Stephen

First I would be sure that is the coach for you. Check out all RV makes and know what you want to "spend" on one. Become knowledgeable on what different ones cost and what models are selling for.......not what the seller is asking or dealer for that matter. There is NO magic in buying a RV just lots of leg work. It takes a while for most of us to accumulate the money to purchase an RV ............you should take the time to get informed. de Sanford

We have an 06 Knight and love it - We just went the RV show in Hershey and could not find one we like better. Have had a few problems but able to fix myself so far. WE did spend lots of time looking for the modrl we liked - Keep going ito different models until you want to stay in one. Good luck Dave

I bought a 2005 Knight two years ago. Basically the same unit as the 2006. Bought based DW's choice of floor plan.

The unit had only 10K miles when I obtained it and we have run it an additional 18k since buying it. It doesn't seem to have affected the chassis. All of the problems I have had are in the house systems. Since no one had lived in my unit or for that matter driven it much, I am still finding minor glitches from the factory. The only other notable problem is dirty contacts from the inactivity.

Take it for what its worth, but having someone live and use the house continuously for a period of time is a good thing.

Good Luck

Aren't there trailing arm issues with that year coach?

I just purchased a 2003 Cayman. Did not know of the trailing arm issue! Will cost $3100.00 to replace. No crack yet but I am not going to wait for failure. UGH.

Trailing arms are not an issue with an '06 Knight. Monaco moved the Knight to the RR8R chassis in '05.

We are just finishing our 3rd summer in our 2005 Monaco Knight 38PDQ and we are very pleased. It had been sitting for many months without any exercise, had 38K miles on it with 250hrs on the genny and it has been fine. The batteries are still original so they are on list though OK at the moment. The dash radio had been changed out to an XM radio already which is way cool. I installed a retired from the house surround sound receiver for TV which is very nice. The only problem we had was the washer/dryer floor became unstapled from the closet wall. This was an easy fix and it is now supported from the floor as well secured back to the wall.

The 2006 probably has a one piece windshield which can be a problem so make sure you level it the Monaco way by always putting the front jack downfirst to pivot from before leveling. Good luck on your purchase, it sounds like a nice machine and you'll have a lot of fun.

We just bought a 2008 National Pacifica 36A. It has the 360 hp Cummins that I like and we really like the floor plan. My wife didn't want a 40 and I was aware of the suspension problems on Monico's non 8 air bag chassis. So we went with my gut and bought what we think fits us best. Thank you all for your input.
