Potential hydraulic hose failure--2000 Dynasty
While crawling under the coach to measure for a bike lift installation, I stumbled across something that would have been a real problem sooner or later. On my 2000 Dynasty 36 (Oregon build) there is a hydraulic hose running from the passenger side of the coach and directly under the engine oil pan going to the radiator fan. There was a stud welded to the receiver hitch/engine mount assembly that was meant to support the hose. Since there was a support on either side of that location, the support stud was not used.
Over a period of years, that unused welded bolt had rubbed its way through the hose and reached the wire reinforcement. Hose was not leaking, but would have been before long.
I have since heard from an owner with a near-identical coach that he had EXACTLY the same situation.
The fix is simple. Use a chisel and heavy hammer to break the weld and remove the stud. Then use a file to smooth out the area near the hose.
If anyone else inspects their coach and finds this same problem, please report it here. Thanks.
