Power Chip

I have a 1999 Monaco Diplomat with a Cummins ISB 275 hp engine. What would be the best Power Chip out there. Any suggestions would help. I would like to boost it to 330 hp.

Try a Diablo Sports Power Puck. Plug and play. It will really wake up the 275.

I had a 99 dip with the 275 ISB, when I purchased it, it ran really strong,come to find out it had a EDGE plug and play programmer on it. Previous owner had it set to stage 3 which was an additional 65 HP and an additional 180 ft/lb of torque. One word of caution, the 98.5/99 ISB's suffered from weak head gaskets per my cummins tech, my head gasket went out at 65k, replaced it with an " updated" cummins head gasket, after that no issues at all, I did turn the programmer down to level 1 which was an additional 60 HP and an additional 160lb/ft of torque. I did have cooling issues when climbing long grades in 100+ degree temps, even though radiator and cac were clean. Fuel economy was always around 9 mpg at a steady 70 mph, I could squeeze 10-11 if I he'd it at 63. You can find used EDGE programmers on EBay for cheap, and they are plug and play. Model# EZD1000, EZD 1000a, EZD 1000b or new part# 30200/30201.
To cure the cooling issue, I installed a "puller electric fan" if you want the info on it you cam PM me and I can send you the write up.
The coach was a night and day diffence with and without the programmer! I wish I could find the same setup for my 04 dip with ISC330!
I sold the 99 dip with 90+k on it with no engine/trans issues at all!

Some thoughts, more torque is what you want. More torque. And like the man said more hp/torque will create more heat which can give you problems on long steep grades. One cheap fix is to take pressurized water from your tank. Make a sprayer from 1/2 inch pvc with multiple holes drilled in it. Use a 12volt solenoid /valve to control flow. Put a push button switch near the driver to control the solenoid. That spray of water WILL cool down the engine. Cheap fix.

Just to clear things up regarding MPG, what was quoted was for relatively flat road, in heavy mountains of CA,NV,AZ I would run about 6.5 to 7.5 for short trips that did not include a lot of flat road. My average MPG from Los Angeles area to Las Vegas would always be in the 7.8-8.2 range depending on traffic.
I agree 100% more torque equals more fuel burned.

Not always true. We went from a Dutch Star weighing 34,000 with an ISC 350/1050, then added a Banks kit with 435/1200 to a 50,000# 45' with ISX 650 now. There was no measurable difference with the Banks kit but much more power. With the ISX there is far more power and the mileage might have gone down less than ¼ mpg if that. I used to figure 7.5 with the ISC for estimating purposes. With the Magna the VMS shows 7.1 and that includes Techachapi, the Grapevine and stuck in traffic after a wreck. That 7.1 was also what the previous owner got.
