Power problem

I have a 2013 Diplomat 43 ft. Frequently my power shuts completely off when I am connected to 50amp and the power transfer switch box kicks on with a loud thumping noise. I then have to turn off the 50 amp breaker at the resort pedestal. Anybody else ever have this problem or knows what's wrong??

Has this happened at more than one campground ?
You say I have to turn off the breaker .
Do you mean turn it off then back on ?
If you haven't seen this at other places then my
guess is a weak 50 amp breaker at the pedestal .

db12brau-

A common problem this time of year is low voltage at the power pedestal, due to everyone in the RV park (or neighborhood) having his air conditioner running. This can cause power protection devices to drop the 120VAC connection, in order to protect the A/C motor(s) and other sensitive electronics on your coach.

If you have a power protection device, such as one from Progressive Industries, I'd be checking the display to see what error might show there.

If you don't have such a device, you should get one and install it.

The solenoid contacts or wire connectors in your transfer switch can go bad and cause problems too. Next time it happens find your transfer switch and rap on it to see it the power comes back on. If that doesn't help you can remove the cover (make sure your unplugged) and check all the connections. The screws can come loose. If that's not the problem then you'll probably need a new transfer switch.

I have the sister coach to your unit and they do have protection for voltage drops and bad grounding. In my case the coach dropped power after about an hour looking for ground. Checked and the pedestal lost ground. I'd move to another site or park. Your unit is doing it's job protecting you and your coach.
