Power Steering Hose Adventure

While we were in Florida 2 weeks ago, I had a the power steering hose rupture at the steering box. I was just backing into the site at Ft Wilderness when it let go (Sunday). That was the good news, We weren't on I4 or one of the turnpikes! The bad news,? It is a hose that runs from the front all the way to the rear of the coach.
Called Chris T to see if he had a recommendation in the Orlando area and He suggested Josam's. On Monday I called Josam's said they weren't able to do a hose change out, but they recommended MobiCare of Orlando.
MobiCare was there at 11 am om Monday to see what would be needed and get me an estimate. What they recommended was simply pulling a new hose in and cut & plug the old line. The hoses are routed along and through the frame. His fear was pulling out the old hose could snag wiring that was run through the frame. (I did look at things to see if I could tackle it and came to the same conclusion, but my recent heart attack and Doctors orders ruled that out)
They had everything done late Tuesday. Was not cheap (about what I had guessed), but we went with a heavier duty hose and that was a 1/3 of the cost.
There is a lot of oil in that system! Took 5 gallons of Dexron. Also that thing is a beast to steer without power steering!
Disney's maintenance folks were great cleaning up the mess I made and they came right there when I called them to let them know what happened.

A lot of us have the same hose setup and concerns. It's not easy routing anything from the front of coach to the back. I think abandoning the old hose in place was the best way.

How much did it cost? Sounds like a $1,000 job.

$2,200 was the final cost. Hose was $850 by itself. It did take 2 people to route the hose and anchor it. I told my wife it would $2k, so my guess was close.
